Morocco Unveils Initiatives to Empower Women

Morocco’s Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration, and Family, Aawatif Hayar, has raised the curtain on a series of trailblazing initiatives to foster social and economic inclusion for women with disabilities across the country.

Minister Hayar took centre stage on Thursday before the House of Councillors, the upper chamber of the Moroccan parliament, to present a series of groundbreaking programs.

One of the focal points of the Minister’s initiatives is the promotion of women's active participation in the development process. Hayar emphasized that gender equality and female empowerment are essential pillars in building a progressive and equitable nation. By providing women with disabilities the necessary tools and opportunities to thrive, she argued, Morocco can tap into an often-underutilized pool of talent and expertise. On this occasion, the Minister expressed her gratitude to the General Secretariat of the Arab Women's Commission – Social Affairs Sector – for the informed choice of the theme of the next session, which highlights the common interest of Arab countries in promoting the fundamental rights of women.

The agenda addressed the strategic framework of the regional program for the economic and social empowerment of Arab women (2024-2030), as well as an Arab action plan aimed at encouraging female entrepreneurship in the Arab world and the political empowerment of Arab women.
